Workers’ Compensation Defense
MMWH regularly represents employers and carriers engaged in such industries as shipbuilding, stevedoring, port terminal operation, railroad transportation, ship repair, longshoring, and other maritime activities involving claims under federal and state workers’ compensation statutes.
We are nationally recognized in the defense of claims under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.
Virginia is one of the few states which allows concurrent prosecution under state and federal workers’ compensation statutes. MMWH is one of the few firms in the Commonwealth able to calculate and manage trial strategy based on concurrent claims.
Employment and Labor Law
Our attorneys are dedicated to staying abreast of, and providing comprehensive advice on state and federal employment laws. These laws include discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, gender, and disability, as well as wage and hour disputes, non-competition agreements, FMLA and other forms of leave, defamation, and general contract issues.
These laws pertain to everyday questions from drafting employment handbooks and policies, guidance on the hiring and the termination of employees, payment or coverage of employment benefits and general compliance with the variety of labor laws, rules and regulations.

Insurance Defense
